Shipping policy
Order Processing
We pride ourselves in processing orders as quickly and as efficiently as possible. In most cases, standard orders will be prepared within 1 business day of being placed. Customized orders (including those with linseed oil, grips, or banding applied to hurleys) can take closer to 2 business days to be prepared for shipping. This allows time for the oil to properly soak in, bands to be applied in-house etc.
Please do note that we are a two-person family operation. We will occasionally be out of town for short periods of time (whether it be for vacation, in person vendor events, or other reasons) and the orders placed during that time will be processed as soon as possible. In the event of an extended delay, we will reach out and explain the timeline so that you are both aware and able to modify/cancel the order if need be.
"Store" Pickup
While uncommon because of the nature of our business, we do offer local pickup and/or selection of products if you happen to be local or passing through Greenville, SC or Hickory, NC, when possible. Please email hunter@americanhurling.com if you would like to schedule a time to stop by.
Tournament Delivery
We travel to a fair number of tournaments each year across the United States with our mobile store, The Wand Shop. If we are attending an event that you will be at, we are more than happy to process and bring your online order with us for in-person pickup. This option will only be available for the specific dates of the event and pickup hours will vary.
Domestic Shipping
We have researched and curated a list of the best and most economical shipping methods for our products. All of the rates we offer at checkout are customized to the weight and dimensions of the products being shipped, and the delivery timeline/estimate will be indicated next to the associated level of service. We offer both USPS and UPS shipping options, but please be aware that not all options will be presented for every order. For example, USPS charges a $15 surcharge for packages over 30" in length, so if you order a hurley then USPS Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express may not show up as options for shipping (or, if they are presented, will be much more expensive than UPS).
We recommend choosing UPS if prices are comparable to USPS (which is generally the case on larger items, like helmets, hurleys, bags, etc.) or USPS on smaller items (like grips, gloves, most apparel, etc.).
International Shipping
We've found this to be a very tricky part of our operation to keep cost effective. International shipping is often a racket, and there are a lot of hidden fees associated with the cheaper options offered by carriers. We have removed all of these cheaper options (which really end up being more expensive) from our available services to help alleviate the confusion.
We offer services via USPS, UPS, and DHL for international shipments. All of these services should include the "brokerage fees" charged by the provider to submit the paperwork to customs in the total amount shown on the site. The only fees that we can't control and don't cover are any sort of taxes (VAT, HST, GST, etc.) that may be charged upon delivery of the order. UPS also likes to be cheeky and charge tax on the brokerage fee (which is then discounted to zero as part of the shipping service) so that sometimes results in an extra charge of a few dollars...but hey, we're doing the best we can to avoid all the nonsense!
Point being, we don't always have the cheapest international shipping options available, but we're confident that the services we offer will end up being the cheapest once the products are delivered to your doorstep. We also continually monitor the international shipping landscape to see if any better options become available, because it really shouldn't be that much more expensive to ship items to Canada than it is within the US.
If prices are fairly equal, we recommend DHL first, USPS second, and UPS third for these international orders.
Refunds and Exchanges
We have a full policy for Refunds and Exchanges available on the site, but the summary is as follows:
- If you ordered the wrong thing or aren't satisfied with the product(s), we accept returns on new, unused products within 30 days of the original order. We do reserve the right to charge either a 10% restocking fee or to charge for the return/exchange shipping, whichever is cheaper.
- If we made a mistake on an order (wrong size sent, wrong customizations, etc.) we will make it right and cover the costs of doing so 100%.
- If any products arrive damaged, please reach out to us immediately upon receipt. We will make sure that you get replacement products sent out, but we will also need to file a report with the shipping courier and they require that to be done in a timely manner.
